From Junction 38 of the M6 motorway follow either exit to the first roundabout. Turn right on to the A685 road signposted to Kendal. Follow the road for about a mile and go over a bridge over the motorway. Turn immediately right signposted to Roundthwaite. Follow the road for about a third of a mile to Roundthwaite. Turn left and follow the lane to a fork. Follow the right hand fork to find Mew Cottages on the left hand side.
Mew Cottages occupy a picturesque setting in the delightful East Lakes hamlet of Roundthwaite, which nestles below the slopes of the fell known as Jeffreys Mount. The original barn was part of Roundthwaite Abbey, formerly part of a working farm.
Directly opposite the barn, and across the approach lane, is Roundthwaite Beck with its wooded banks, which are a carpet of flowers in the spring.
